WHO'S WHO IN WHOVILLE
JANE WALTER-LOCKWOOD
Director, Office of Public Works
Jane knows how to win. Her career path is filled with entrepreneurial accomplishments and professional successes that make her uniquely qualified to help Whoville clients navigate today's highly competitive business environment using strategic, innovative marketing, social media and public relations tactics. In her first several years after graduating and earning the "Most Promising Teacher Prospect Award", she was an award-winning elementary teacher who brought passion and understanding to her classrooms earning the praise and respect of the parents of the children she taught.
Raising her own two boys she became aware of the dire need for a healthier baby feeding solution than plastic bottles. Jane took matters into her own hands and invented the world's first stainless steel baby bottle under the brand organicKidz. Like most things Jane puts her mind to, organicKidz quickly became a disruptive force in the baby product industry. The innovative baby bottles that she developed, sourced manufacturing of and sold into baby boutiques and big box stores across North America won the coveted JPMA Innovation Award. In that same year, another product that Jane invented also won the JPMA Innovation Award - an unprecedented accomplishment! Jane was given the honour of speaking at the World Health Organization on baby feeding health, she was voted the Mompreneur of the Year in Calgary, she was a winner of an Alumni Award of Excellence from the University of Alberta and won the Calgary Chamber of Commerce Emerging Enterprise award. The innovative marketing strategies that Jane developed, executed and resulted in the highly successful launch of the organicKidz brand are a case study in many MBA Programs across Canada and North America and profiled in 2 MBA program textbooks.
More recently as a founding partner of Whoville, Jane was instrumental in the successful launch of Granary Road, the greater Calgary area's newest, most exciting family dining, shopping and entertainment destination. Jane brought her experience as a mom and expertise as a teacher to consult on the exhibit designs in the Active Learning Park and her marketing prowess in making the Public Market a premier shopping location. She was also responsible for planning and executing the extremely successful social media and public relations initiatives that put Granary Road on the map and top of mind for the most impactful influencers in the area and ultimately in the hearts of the thousands of guests that visited Granary Road in its first few months of operation.
Jane brings that same passion and insight that identified a market need and opportunity in the baby product category along with the creative thinking and marketing/business acumen that led to an incredibly successful launch of the organicKidz and Granary Road brands to every client at Whoville.
